I imagine many of you have heard of the Trans European Trail (TET) that is a network of off road routes throughout Europe. The TET in England starts at Dover and meanders South to North and ends in New Castle. In doing so, it was soon realised that an amazing area was left out which is the area that runs from the northern tip of the Salisbury Plains down to the South Western Peninsula of Cornwall right down to Lands End. This route has now been included in the TET known as the Great Western Trail.

I had some time off work and decided to do the first half of the route down to lands End. The trip down would take 4 days and I would then slab it back to my home in Surrey on the 5th day.

This following link is a really cool overview of the Great Western Trail

Day 1  entailed a blast along tar roads down to the start point of the GWT in Amesbury. From here I would follow the trail with the intention of finding a camping spot near Lyme Regis. Once on the trail it was probably a 60/40 split in favour of offroad tracks. Some of these being pretty technical. I reached my planned destination and found a nice camp site
