Hi all, thanx for all the support and prayers.
Ja, this was a terrible thing that happened to my son and I will give details at a later stage.
Update: It is going very well with him and he is extremely positive, although I don't think that he knows all the details, yet. But we leave that to the doctors to decide on when to tell him what, we stick to keeping him positive at this stage, although he knows that there is big damage to his body.
Both his femurs were broken badly, close to his hips, but they were fixed last Sunday by a great surgeon, Dr Rall. Will post some pics on this at a later stage.
These doctors and all the hospital staff are absolutely amazing!! ANGELS!!
He broke 4 of his vertebra’s in his neck, of which two was shattered and two large pieces went into his spinal cord, causing the damage.
They have postponed his operation to his neck, twice, due to low his blood platelets being to low. That has picked up nicely over the last couple of days and they are doing the opp tomorrow morning. The are removing the two shattered vertebra’s and replacing them with a lumber vertebral prostheses.
@Allegro will keep you updated and I will too, as I get a chance.
Please keep him in your prayers and thoughts tomorrow, as this will be his biggest to date.
(Hoop my grammer en spelling is okay, want my Brits is nie van die beste nie )
Love you all!!

Hi all. Time for a update.
Before anything else, I need to tell you that Zander is doing absolutely amazing. His got the fighting spirit of ten lions.
He got his neck opp on Monday the 5th, everything went well and they even removed the ventilator the next day. But on Tuesday afternoon he stopped breathing and they had to bag him and put him back on the ventilator and things were not going too well. They had to flush his lungs, due to a lot of slime and he stayed on the ventilator till this Tuesday, the 12th. He was not a happy chappy, mostly cause he couldn’t speak, which frustrated him tremendously. They phoned us Tuesday morning, saying that after they removed the ventilator and pipes, he would not stop talking, but that they loved it.
Tonight, I’m sitting here, 3 weeks after the accident, thinking back of the cold wind on Verneukpan and my son laying there………… but I have so much thankfulness inside me and a kind of happiness, difficult to explain, mostly because his alive and furthermore because I cant begin to explain to you how he has progressed in the last 3 days. From paralyzed from the neck down, to movement in his left arm and him telling me that he will not stop exercising his arm, until he can eat by himself.
You guys that are following his progress on whatsapp, would have seen his progress the last few days.
If you would like to follow, send me a whatsapp and I will add you to the group, mostly Afrikaans, as my whatsapp don’t have spellcheck and my brits is sheeeet. 0837791040 Its not a chat group, just updates on Zander.
I’ll post a few photo’s, only for your eyes and please not to be put on any media.
