690 size motor in a slightly bigger frame? The 690 has lots of grunt and much much longer service intervals meaning it should be more reliable over distance.

Is nobody listening, 450's can last the distance, only Yamaha had kark (maybe as its not a Rallye Bike) a  bigger capacity lower tuned bike might suit Mal Motto, but it will WIN fark all!!!! 

Those 450's are bespoke engines that cost a bloody fortune.

Cant see a 690 Dakar race motor be any cheaper

I don't follow anything but the bikes, so, I can't answer your question.

Dakar misses that primadonna always with excuses why he could never stay in front. Probably because he never listened to his navigator.

Was thinking that KTM would have snatched him after his great performance... or Honda. Bam Bam I think might have gone Bang, unless he has something on the Japs we dont know about.

I cannot stand Robbie Gordon and for some reason they kept on giving him lots of airtime. I would mute the tv the moment he pops up. My idea of hell is spending 24 hours in his company without a mute button.

Hi Chris - I realized he was  complete ass after he nearly killed a friend of mine Christoff Barrier-Varju by driving over his tent in the bivouac. Would have been dead if he was in it, and it was pure chance he was not
He also was reckless around bikers on the stage. Generally, a dangerous liability to himself, other competitors and the public.

But his bla bla, Im going to win this race followed by "#$%&/ its not fair" when he screws up year after year was great entertainment. It was always, never,ever his fault.

And the few times his All Merican-made and Merican sponsored, "Merica has the best", "Merica is the best" car actually worked and didn't rolls or crash somewhere, it was actually very impressive to see. His famous entry into Iquique, passing the Kamaz truck was truly epic (I think in 2011).

That's racing.

Yet, for all his faults, Robbie's name is one of the greatest at Dakar, because he was a cowboy, and motorsport needs cowboys.

Otherwise it descends into F1.
