If it's the same old KLR surely it cant be marketed as a new model coming out ?

If it has EFI then it will be new, bet that would add another 5kg to the weight too... ;-)

Think they sorted the oval barrels, fitted Doohickey and EFI. Should make it reliable as an anvil now. :thumleft:
and hopefully the new one would not drink oil if you go faster than 120.

Drinking oil is a thumper thing... efi or not... but yeah that would make the KLR better. :thumleft:

Having had two Rotax 650's in the garage I can honestly say no matter what speed you ride them they do not use oil ever. How that happens I do not know.

I have to agree. I sold my 650 GS on 138 000 km. Just before I sold it I rode to Bloem and Back from Cape Town. . I was in a hurry and hung on the cable running as hard as that little 650 would go.
Got back to Cape Town without having used any oil.

Drinking oil is a thumper thing... efi or not... but yeah that would make the KLR better. :thumleft:
They had a whole batch of non homogenous liners, so they wore weird only fix was a new liner I think.

Mainly the 2008. Something to do with clamping the barrel incorrectly during machining, so when released bore was Oval. Newer ones also have better rings. @Pebbles bike got to over 70000km before we bored 0.25mm and used OEM KAWA newer piston. Its much better but still uses oil if you thrash it. I say WE , but actually @Groenie did the work and I just drank his beer..
Am watching this post as I am also watch the Yamaha T700 post as well. I still do not like taking my AT in the rough stuff and pillion does not work for the 2 of us. I better KLR would still tick the boxes
Where are my shorts??

So far I have seen KLX300 , KLX300SM , ZX10R , ZX10RR and Z H2 SE , so still one more , a KLR650 replacement makes sense , if they do they will probably use the 650 Versys engine which is an absolute gem

ditto that on the 650 twin in the Versys. I quite like the Versys and it does quite well but a bit more suspension and spoked adventure sized wheels would work wonders. I don't think there is any hope for the KLX250 but my wife does like it and it does get me to the shops.
