02/02/12 - RIP Glen - the Arrow of Elliot and the little man with the big heart that truly was larger than life.

You have touched us and left us better for having known you - even if it was only briefly.

For grabbing the moment and living the day It's been way too early that you were taken away

Kosie, when your a bag of hot air like me, you find it very difficult to fart in the seated position.
Reason two: It is bloody lekker.
Reason three: I like to piss people off on tigers who think it looks tos when I stand.
Reason four: Its flippen lekker.
Reaosn five: I left bum cheeck didn't accept the seat so I had to stand and try again.
Reason six: I got a cramp.
Reason seven: I couldn't see past the stupid Hummer H3 with low profiles.
Reaosn eight: It donners lekker.
Reason nine: Moer it is lekker to stand.
Reason ten: People is cages notice you right away cause it looks tos and they think "what a shmuck!"

Reason enough: Man it feels lekker.

Hier in PE is daar mos 'n mal hobbelbouer los.

My broer bou hobbels :D

Center of gravity has absolutely nothing to do with standing on the pegs or sitting on the seat.

It's all about the location of the mass in space. A better term is "center of mass".

Sitting lowers the center of mass, standing raises it. It's that simple.

Standing raises the center of mass.
Sitting lowers the center of mass.

Raising your the center of mass is a bad thing for a single rigid body. Think top heavy 4x4. They flip easier than a sports car.

But a motorcycle with rider can be simulated as two rigid bodies hinged together. They will be illustrated as a line.

| <--- rider
| <--- motorcycle
The rider is directly above motorcycle. The center of mass is centered front to back, side to side. It is in equilibrium.

/ <--- rider
\ <--- motorcycle
The rider leans to the right while the bike leans to the left. The center of mass is in equilibrium again, keeping the rider and motorcycle from falling.

\ <--- rider
.\<--- motorcycle
The rider leans to the left and the bike leans to the left. The center of mass is no longer in equilibrium, it is to the left of the motorcycle inducing a fall.

While standing raises your center of mass, it allows you to shift more weight from side to side, front to back, thus allowing the bike to move more side to side, front to back, keeping the center of mass in equilibrium, enabling you and the bike to stay upright and keep from falling.

Hey Pants, after a thorough explanation like that you deserve to stand anytime bru  :)

Thanks  :P I stand where ever I can... and yes even when I leave the filling station  :pot:

For me it's good practice for when I really need it... when I travel on gravel  :ricky: :ricky: or slow tricky stuff... Standing also allows you to keep your feet on the pegs longer and most importantly using your back brake! I see many people fall because they sit and `paddle` with the feet off the pegs... hence taking away the ability to brake with your back wheel... and what comes instinctively? Grabbing the front brake  :o :o
