« on: October 27, 2020, 02:40:58 pm »
Damn it seems like it has been a long wait...

And with 38 min 51 sec, Wade Young  was the fastest in the 17 km Time Trial Qualifications of the Vertical Madness.

For such a big event the coverage is dismal.. Its like the Dakar, massive film crews everywhere and we get to see 10 min clips as highlights when they could be making 1 hour specials just with the pit setups.

JonW, you've just given me a reason to visit Romania next year  :thumleft:

Instead of paying a fortune to go see MotoGP, I can go watch the enduro type stuff. There's a couple more around aren't there?

Spending a few days at Romaniacs must be an awesome experience.

Yep, I'd be looking for the best traction there is and the safest option. They just need a couple inches of movement and then they get back on.

Even at the switchbacks they don't mess around. Get off, flick the front round and off they go again.

No embarrassment that they they have to get off, it's all about speed.

What a race. Jarvis is just ridiculous, to mix it up with the young guns like that and still come out very close to the  top. Pity about Wade, misses out on the podium by a few seconds, but still a fantastic ride. (Is it true he is off to Husky? How does that affect the RedBull sponsorship?)
But to me the absolute star of 2020 - Ms S Gomez. First woman to finish Gold at Romaniacs. That's some history to make.

2 years ago or so it was a draw, as they carried the bikes up a frozen waterfall from memory.  :sip:
When is this "Old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

Cracker, those sort of obstacles is really not that difficult to negotiate, and the secret lies in what you do before such an event.

The secret is not to enter these events, not even by chance.

Those stairs made me think of a few years ago when I tried to ride up two flights of stairs drunk as a skunk to get my bike into my local pub.  Got halfway up the first flight - moered off. slide down, burned myself on the zorst - it smelled like burned bacon --- friend helped me down while laughing uncontrollably --- got a mark on my person and bike as a reminder to stay in my lane.... :imaposer:

in my mind's eye I was going to hop that bike up the stairs on the pegs like jarvis - but came down the stairs like a hippo on a scooter
