Rewind stator GS800 Durban area

Howzit guys. Mate of mine has had one phase of his stator go on his GS800. Apparently a common problem? Does anyone know who rewinds them in the Durban area? (I guess MUCH cheaper than getting the original BMW part). Or are there aftermarket/pirate ones to be had? Or even does anyone have an old good one they want to get rid of - he is on a tight budget so cheapest but still reliable is first prize.
