Great job Ian! What maybe needs clarity is that this twin groove/seal piston appears to be the modification to the new Magura slaves being fitted to 2021 bikes, along with no skirt dust seal. Does the Oberon also run a two groove piston?

Also that clearly the O-ring replacement fitted to your bike in CT was obviously not EPDM and either Viton or butyl that was not brake fluid compatible (yes will work for an emergency 'get one home' and for a few months but will eventually fail.

Also for noting for anyone making the change is standard spec brake fluid is DOT 4 but many change to run the DOT 5.1 which has a higher boiling point. What is critical for anyone doing the change is NEVER use DOT 5 as it is synthetic silicone based and not compatible with our system (DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 are compatible and can be mixed).

Hi Big Dom  yes .So it looks like the 2021 bikes will come with this double ring piston. And i see on the FB site that piston has a green Viton ring and i will assume a EPDM ring. The Oberon also according to there site has two O rings it says one been Viton. So the dust cover is not needed .  Funny since i had my 950 i wanted to make a double O ring piston, But bought a EVO slave. The shop in Cape town fitted a Viton ring to my bike. I checked.

So, engine oil on one side, brake fluid on the other, different materials for the two O-rings.
Here's a Q: what kind of lubricant must be used in the middle of the two O-rings?

I took my 2020 model in for a service last week and asked the dealer to do a claim in order to get the double O ring piston and the claim was approved. Now for the wait for the part to arrive.

Thanks to this post, I would not have known about the upgrade!

Is this double o-ring piston a warrantee thing or a recall item and therefor applicable to all bikes?

A warranty claim, not a recall. I think they approved mine due to the bike still being under warranty and the new ones came out with the double O ring this year.
