The victim if a bike theft has been given ten years in prison after he chased down and eventually killed one of the perpetrators

"A man has been sentenced to ten years for the manslaughter of a motorcycle thief who he had been chasing to try and recover his stolen motorcycle.

The victim of the theft, Mihai Dinisoae, was awoken to the sound of his Honda CBR being tampered with, and stolen in the early hours of May 5th 2020. After being alerted to the theft, Dinisoe failed to alert the police, instead preferring to make chase through the streets himself at the wheel of his Vauxhall Vectra.

After a high-speed chase that included the driver breaking speed limits and driving the wrong way around traffic islands, Dinisoae used his car to ram the bike, which was carrying Mikey Dunwiddie, 28 as the rider, and Joshua Molloy, 28 as the pillion. The force of the impact flung Malloy from the bike, causing him to impact with a piece of road furniture, killing him instantly.

Emergency services attended, although they pronounced Malloy dead at the scene. Dunwiddie was taken to hospital with serious but survivable injuries.

Dinisoae was arrested by police soon after the incident and immediately admitted that he had pursued the men. He did though initially claim that the pair had lost control of the powerful sports bike, causing Malloy to collide with the lamppost that fatally took his life.

Last month a jury found him not guilty on the charge of murder but now Dinisoae, of Baldwin Avenue, Newcastle, has pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.

He had previously admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving in relation to injuries suffered by Mr Molloy’s associate at an earlier hearing.

Earlier this week, Dinisoae was handed a 10-year prison sentence after appearing at Newcastle Crown Court for his sentencing.
Speaking after the sentence was handed down, Detective Inspector Joanne Brooks said Dinisoae should have called the police instead of taking the law into his own hands.

She said: 'I have no doubt that Mihai Dinisoae had completely lost control of his emotions and was intent on chasing down his victims.

He made no attempts to alert authorities of the theft and instead tried to chase down the two men himself to get his hands on his property.

'The footage demonstrates just how mindless the actions of Dinisoae were that morning and he has ultimately led to Josh's death.'
