In the bush veld we saw fire flies and for the first time my grandson saw , and caught one . Remember as kids running amock with parents shouting bed time 😢😢 good old days ! And on our watch us farmers use chemicals that kill every living thing so our crops bring maximum mooler!  They as rare as rhino now .
We custodians for a very short time on earth so letís not fuck it up for next generation 😢

Saw some in the Waterberg too! On New Year's Eve. Magical little things.

Chameleons seems to have become scarce as well. As kids we used catch them a lot. Nowadays a rare sighting.

That's interesting. We were at Kiara lodge near Golden Gate in early December, and saw a swarm of fireflies, all located in a certain spot. That's after not having seen any for many years.

In Stellenbosch as kids, you could walk up to any shrub, bush or fence, and within a minute find a chameleon.

Now they are so scarce that my wife gets all excited when we occasionally spot one in our garden.

One of nature's most beautiful little creations, these chameleons.
