How much power does the 690 produce again??

If some folks cant mange all that hp properly, they should scale down to a Jap offering; their clutches are happy with the 50% less load.

*this excludes the great XRR. A bike pioneered by a racing legend. Reluctantly built by the Japs and replaced by soft-cock offerings for those, "ready to slip the clutch" people

Yes, and the XR-R also has a proper clutch, despite it being a "Jap offering", you must understand that clutches are paired to engines, so your 24HP CRF230 will have a clutch relatively as strong as the

XR-R.

Adding a beefier clutch means more rotational mass etc etc
All to protect the bike from people that shouldn't be riding it in the 1st place.

Instead of spending your efforts criticizing 6/790 clutches, maybe start a riding school for your Jap tjommies?

You know, give something back to the community.

As long as you don't advocate to have these bikes 'fixed' as it would only lead to an overpriced, overweight, underpowered specimen.

I also believe the main problem with some KTM clutches are undersprung issues.

Gonna need more than just springs, by the sound of your ramblings.

Start with your Jap rider's support group and work from there?

A neutered 690 is not the solution.

Go read my last couple posts again.

Some folks should stick to underpowered, undersprung, overweight and overpriced Jap bikes, as they can slip their clutches all day long.

With the low-down torque of the no-electronics  T7, there is no need to slip clutches. Yamaha has it down to an art, this motorcycle making business.

Sure is an art, given it's road bike heritage

Like the first ever Dakar win? Or showing the world the way with offroad 4strokes?

But yes, they have an enviable road heritage too.

Was more referring to the flex-o-matic 43mm forks, triple clamps and road bike frame.

But sure, must be directly influenced by the Dakar wins of decades ago.

This road bike looking gear shifter says it all!

I blame that guy that put TKC-80's on an R1 and took it into the desert.

It obviously gave Yamaha all sorts of ideas.

The XT has done this very route, from the Klaarstroom side of Meiringspoort to the top of Swartbergpass, in one day.

In one day, from my home in Stellenbosch and back in the evening.

These are daytrips to me. Because I am on a Yamaha.

I am planning to do it on the Husky, and will put a planning a ride thing out as soon as we are over the hot weather.

Do not ever deride an XT, as you very obviously do not know what they are.
