I rode the 1098S and was very impressed , then I rode the 1198 R and was blown away , ultra impressive and if finances allowed I would have one

I have a pal with a 1299 panigale that has only done 2500km. I think he is afraid of it! Goes like stink.

They are very focused bikes but really look the business.

There are numerous very wise opinions (from some very good riders) that suggest that the latest Panigale super sports are more a curse than a blessing unless you're a top class rider. They are so focused, you really need to know your shit to make the thing work to its potential.

Personally, for my skill level, an older 959 would be great. A mate of mine with more money than sense has the 899 and after this weekend at RedStar where he found his 1290 KTM Adv inadequate, he was all 'jags' about buying a V4 (he already has an 899) but I suggested he'd be better off beating his 899 with a stick and he's most likely be quicker on the smaller bike.....and he already has it, with all of 900km on it.

The Panigale does nothing for me looks wise , the 1098 and 1198 all have great styling . The 1198R that I rode was also the first time I ever rode a bile with traction control , it took a while before I plucked up the courage to mail the throttle  .
BTW , another very underrated bike is the RC8R , I would say it is the equal of the Ducati in handling , but down on power compared to the 1198R , but way superior to the standard  bike

I was also looking at the RC8R but they are like chickens teeth. As are these 1098s and 1198 even more so.

Thanks for the input chaps, I've retracted my offer due to the seller not responding and frugality may be the best was forward at this stage, no space for impulse purchases such as these right now.
It's the end of the road as we know it and I feel fine.
