If there is one company that could pull something like this off, it is Honda.

They have probably been more about racing motorcycles than any other manufacturer out there, with a keen eye for talent, and a deep purse to reward.

Not with SBK though, if the mighty HRC keeps on churning out soft superbikes ( with nice paint jobs  ;) )

Don't you rate the new  the new fireblade? its far from soft

I rode one and its the best one so far........but still soft unfortunately. What's your own first hand experience of this latest Blade ?

What do you mean by 'soft'? with 217hp (or there abouts), it's very competitive with the other bikes in its class. I think the DucatiV4 is 234hp with the pipe option.
Either way, these 1l class bikes are becoming manic. A lot of the motoring journalists suggest they'd be downright death machines without all the rider and safety aids.

Its no R1 or ZX 10 or Pani V4, thats for sure, despite the claimed hp figures . Despite the  claimed power, it doesn't feel as race sharp as the competition. The point is, some subjected folk makes it out to be a world beating Superbike, whilst my view is that it doesn't feel that way in stock trim. I am eagerly awaiting its performance in this years SA SBK competition. The journos are correct about the potential danger of these 200 plus hp superbikes, but that holds true for the previous generation bikes as well.

The point is....

... that this bike is Honda's road-legal (hence sellable, must make them some dough of course!) basis which can be perfectly modded (within the SBK rules) to give them a competitive contender!

Swap whatever is allowed (zorst, forks, shock, swinger, HRC-ECU etc), remove the road shite and put another loom on, then slap a carbon fairing on it and my bet is that it will be a contender to be reckoned with  ;)
Why else bring this bike out?
Definitely not for the meagre sales superbikes attain of late!

Dakar - Honda has a good chance  :occasion18:
MotoGP - Yes if MM is injury free and stays on board !
World MX - Yes Gajser should have it
AMA SX and MX - I don't think so, Ken Roczen has some stiff competition
World SBK - again don't think they have a chance
World trials - don't know it at all ?

Well done to Honda for Dakar 2021!

Don't know who this Chase Sexton fellow is but apparently he could put Honda on the map in AMA SX.

I have found the Hondaís of the past to be very deceptive , I think of older generation ZX10ís for example , if you are doing a certain lap time you knew you were doing those times , the CBRís were able to do the same lap times although it didnít feel like it . I might have done a faster lap time on the ZX but did a faster race time on the CBR .

World Trial championship Toni Bou and Honda have won every year since 2007 except one so they should do it again.

Just a bit of useless info I read about the other day.

Taking a 2017 Gsxr 1000:

Road bike = 200kg and about 200 hp.
Superstock are very similar in power, but weight about 175 kg
World Superbike spec, around 167 kg and 230 hp, mental
xl185  cb750f  gsx600f  fz750  gsxr750  cbr600f2  cbr900rr cbr929rr  cbr954rr  vtr1000f  fzr1000exup  650dakkie gsxr1000k4  lc4 supermoto  bandit1200s   project fartblood (fireblade streetfighter)  f800gs 690 kaboem

And if MM does not come back soon, Honda can blow kisses at motoGp too.

This thread is about Hondnaai.

And based on 2020 results, Yamaha had a much better year than Hondnaai in MotoGP.  And it was still a year Yamaha would rather forget. :imaposer:

So be careful what you predict. O0

That's an easy one.

Allow me to predict that Yamaha will again score zero of the aforementioned titles in 21.

But I agree, it's silly of me to drag Yamasuck into a thread that is about Honda, a championship winning brand.

While I cannot argue that Hondnaai is indeed a championship brand, guess who have been year on year their biggest challenger, often beating them?

Hint; King Kenny, Steady Eddie, Racy Rainey, etc.....
