I believe the 2021 "Fireblade" is different though?

Quite frankly I think that is the only reason that this really-hot Fireblade exists: to regain some hold again of WSB!
Allegedly on the street it is an inconvenient bitch to ride, but comes into its element once leaned over on slicks on a track... sounds familiar, the V4 Duc is said to do same.
Also, WSB success sells streetbikes, not so much MotoGP wins - but I think the Superbike era has possibly passed already, there's nothing left of the Supersport class these days.
We will see it soon no doubt  ;)

Well SBK might survive with all the MotoGP "retirees" joining. For the same reason there are very limited growth options for Supersport riders...

Jip seems Dakar is going Honda's way

It went their way last year right up to the end.. lets hope its their year this year.

They won last year...

If there is one company that could pull something like this off, it is Honda.

They have probably been more about racing motorcycles than any other manufacturer out there, with a keen eye for talent, and a deep purse to reward.

Not with SBK though, if the mighty HRC keeps on churning out soft superbikes ( with nice paint jobs  ;) )

Don't you rate the new  the new fireblade? its far from soft

Lost in translation.. "it went their way right up to the end".. meaning they managed to stay on a reliable bike right to the end. The Dakar is so tough that the best rider on the best bike with the best team may not finish.

And yeah.. lets hope its their year this year.. with Price out its looking good.

Racing is in Honda’s DNA thanks to Sochiro who believed in showcasing a product on the race track. Honda also does not give up. First couple of years back at Dakar was full of dissapointments and bad luck but they kept going at it and now look how dominant they have become. Ducati also irked them in SBK so they built their own V-twin the mighty RC51 and dominated.

Just like Ford trying to beat Ferrari in the 60's at le mans.. took Ford 4 years and about $300 mil in todays money to finally win, giving Ford a 3 year winning streak and Ferrari a middle finger., considering that Ford was going to buy Ferrari for $18 mil it turned out to be a very expensive middle finger.

Money, dedication and never giving up.. that is Honda, but KTM is not going to just lie down.. no sir.

The Italian government ultimately intervened, blocking Enzo from selling an "Italian national gem".

Otherwise, all Ferraris today would have looked like Sierra's and "Bertone" Granada's. :thumleft:
I do not think we would have Ferrari anymore... that was the the idea behind their purchase offer...
Take it over, produce some kak models then shut it down as "unprofitable"... >:D

Looks like HRC off to good start with Dakar.... will not be surprised if they make 2021 a back to back year thereby finally breaking the KTM stranglehold.....

A day away and seems Honda on verge of doing it again if all goes well.... :thumleft:

Look, the superbike you buy and the "superbike" that races in WSBK re two entirely different animals.

The public model only have to have the basic rule applications in place, to transfer to WSBK.

Honda knows F1 fairly well I would say.. after the contracts ended they shifted focus. nothing wrong with that .. F1 is a bottomless black hole.

Of all the Japanese manufacturers, Honda is known as Mr. Boring.

If Mr. Boring is leaving F1, you must know how kak boring those cars are.
