I think we all knew it, but I've just seen it confirmed that Vinales and Yamaha have parted ways with immediate effect.

Ja was pretty inevitable - guess he may even get his butt on the Aprilia this season yet.

Aprilia does have something like 6 wildcard entries available to them.  With 9 races to go, there is a good chance that MV may get a ride.  Personally, I think he should bugger off and not even watch MotoGP on TV till the end of the year testing.  He needs to get MM93 and his following techniques, Lin Jarvix management techniques and Yamaha rev limiting techniques out from between his ears.  Way out!

I think he may be okay.  The Yamaha frustration comes with their lack of ability to provide two competitive bikes.  The Aprilias should be similar in that, albeit not race winners.  Remember, Rule #1 of racing.  First, beat your team mate.

I think the Aprillia mechanics are Googling "extra strong valves"

They should be okay if they don't use the same manufacturer who made the 2020 Yamaha valves.

Anyway, chips, beer, MotoGP app on the TV, settle in to watch the race, but during those last few laps, apparently my anxiety was getting the better of me to the point where my wife had to remind me that the outcome would not change, "You know he's won, so it's fairly obvious he doesn't fall, so you can stop acting like a chop".

Wifes ... they don't understand.   :lol8:

I'm interested to hear how Darryn did Today with his Test on the R1.......

I doubt there will be much news as it was a private thing. Unless Darryn or someone at Petronas or YART (Yamaha Austria Racing Team) tells us, we won't know.  Of course, Darryn has ridden superbikes before and just about a year ago blitzed Kyalami on the Ducati.   He should be pretty quick.

... Don't tell anyone that he then binned the new Duke the following week at Phikisa  8)

Binning, like rubbing, is racing.

Not sure he was actually racing - also was a loan bike  ::)  But ja am sure it was insured.

I feel sorry for Dovi, he deserves a top ride.

One of the best riders ever but seems to get pipped by bad luck and timing.

I am worried about Darryn and the SRT (ex-Petronas) team.  If the team select according to their initial mission, i.e. develpment for young riders, without big bucks influence from Dorna, Darryn will probably get the ride.  If they go for Dovi, there goes the young rider development out the back door again, just as it did with Rossi.  Then, if Dorna sweeten them up by a couple of flashy Euros to ensure a Brit on the grid, in comes Dixon and it will be Dovi and Dixon, with Darryn nowhere to go.

I hope they announce their future plans by this weekend.  If it excludes Darryn, there should be time for him to negotiate with a proper Moto2 team.

Darryn has the ride, as far as I know he is the only SRT rider to have a contract for next year, and with the Moto3 and Moto2 teams no more, they will be forced to move him into the MotoGP team if they don't want a legal battle.

It is pretty easy to buy out a contract.  We have seen many examples in the past.  I hope like crazy I am wrong.
