This is so meh now. Visor Down recently is generating some really poor motor journalism.

Moving on.

We have not seen the last of a very talented rider. If the sport can forgive and forget the seriously twat move by Fenati that could have banned him for life then this is a minor fall from grace. We do not know the full story and may never. His brain fart, his career, his ride, his remuneration ... and yes his decision and seems happy to live with it.

Fully agreed.  For many years MV entertained us all with some great racing, including a Moto 3 championship.  One brain fart and some is sentencing him to death, or worse.  There is way more to the story that we know and, like you said, one brain fart does not make him any less of a bloody good rider.

I am not at all sure that all is moon shine and roses at Yamaha Factory.  I mean,Hervé Poncharal took his whole team and buggered of as satellite Yamaha team to become the satellite team for KTM.  He was just overly gatvol with having no control over his riders and not getting any decent bikes from Yamaha.  As I have said before, it is a cut throat business, not a Sunday School picnic.

And all that ultimately matters is the manufacturer's title at the end of the year. Rightly so, as this is why they race.

Indeed.  However, to win the Constructor's title you need two very good riders, without which the title is not easily won.  Yes, there have been exception, but in general, one rider won't do it for you.  You need two, happy, contented, fast riders.  It seems to me, Yamaha is not doing particularly well in this regard and have not been for the past decade or so.

I have often stated here why I believe Yamaha is lagging behind Honda and Ducati.
- They were years behind in setting up a European testing team with an ex-MotoGP rider as test rider.  They tested in Japan with a retired Ja[panese Superbike racer.
- The unified electronics caught them with their pants down.  Both Honda and Ducati poached top notch software engineer from the ECU supplier.
- They only woke up to the advantages of having a least one factory bike in the satellite teams a few years after Ducati and Honda.  They haven't used wild card entries to their advantage.  A few times that they did, they used said retired Japanese Superbike rider.
- It also helps if you have a satellite team that trusts you and works with you to help test new parts, etc.

So, yes Danie, the Constructors Title is all that is important to the constructors (the riders and fans may well see it differently though) and Yamaha seems to be failing.  The last time they won it was in 2015 and that was only their 14th title.  Prior to that, in 2010.   They need to jack up how they do things.

That they are indeed.  Especially in 2021 and a bit in 2020.  Prior to that, there was that pesky Honda .....

Young star Acosta and Fernandez confirmed for Ajo KTM Moto 2 for next year.

FP1 is not a great measure, but both factory KTM's looked rather pedestrian.  I hope they get it sorted and sorted well in time to get them into Q2.
