Interesting thread.

Was looking at a 250L as another option seeing I am in the market for something light.  And after the RR of Oom Vis I thought about it.  Now I see this

Ag fok, ek bly deurmekaar.

Kry 'n behoorlike 2de hande 250 teen 'n goeie prys en maak so paar goedkoop mods en jy is so naby aan 'n 300 soos bliksem 'n vloekwoord is.     :deal: :thumleft:

Beslis iets om na te loer.  Goedkoper gee meer geld vir ekstras wat kan help

Dis eintlik 'n no brainer, jy gaan nog baie kleingeld injou sak oorhe.    :thumleft:
13 Tand sprocket voor, airbox mod en stywer spring agter gaan jou net so bietjie meer as R5 000 kos.  Jy sal in elk geval seker die 300 se agter spring moet vervang met 'n stywer een.   :deal:

oom Vis ek gaan jou PM stuur

Some landed last week
Honda Cape Town got .....ONE........pre-sold, managed to SNAG another one, that too is sold!
Honda Tygerberg got........THREE......all pre-sold....

next shipment will have 4 or 5 (in total) for these 2 branches to SHARE, so, yes, very scarce - they could sell many times what they receive...

It seems the 300L is moving quickly while the 250L and Rally struggled although 250L became popular later on. Did people wake up to smaller bikes later or are Honda bringing in far less 300’s ? Was the 250 priced too high at the time ? Many things to think about.

The introduction of the 300 addresses the concern that most riders had about the 250. Just needs a little more power. I tested the 250 and felt it needed just a little more power. Everyone so far agrees the engine remap and extra cc’s (280-something cc’s now) totally “makes” the bike now.

Of course the 300L looks more like business than the relatively tame 250L. Of course if Honda wakes up and starts selling the 300 Rally here they will sell like hotcakes.

Sad to say it is my personal opinion that Honda is so “deur die strooi” that they will not wake up and for that reason I am looking for alternatives.

IMO the 250's was priced way to high.  You can however now get decent 2nd hand ones at a very good price and with very little expense you can mod them close to the performance of the 300.   :thumleft:

My heart still yearns for a 300L but a 250 at half price makes more sense. Anyone had the 5k rattle ? I remember @blauth had it on his Rally 250 and in his case it was the smog valve if I remember correctly. This guy can ride, enjoy his videos  :ricky:

I am sure the Honda 300 is a good bike and will have the jap reliability ..

Few guys have been using them here and like them .. Some guys will not go to them as they have less horses than the WR250r  250 ( street legal here ) Yamaha I have . Standard suspension also not as good as the Yamaha . But it has all the new required electronics required for new bikes above 250 cc so I am sure they will sell plenty  here .They sell for 10 000 NZD .

Think I will stick with the Yamaha and when I get to about 60 000 K throw  in a Athena 290cc or 310 cc kit ... as they are not making  the WR250 anymore so Honda will rule the market for a while until other manufactures pull finger .
