I currently own a 2012 990 adventure and thinking of buying a new 1290 SAR. I enjoy riding offroad but we never really do hard offroad single track or anything. We typically do Swazi and Lesotho gravel roads. I really enjoy the 990 and it is great offroad. The challenge is that when doing journeys further away there is a lot of tar to cover and the rider aids on new bikes obviously makes the ride much more comfortable.
Have any of you made this change and how have you found the 1290 offroad? I know on the tar it will be much better than the 990 but don't want to hit dirt and feel like i made a mistke.
