Most guys who offer accommodation have upped security and community also trying to do their bit.

Could be, but I won't take that chance, saw a few ktms were taken this past week or so.

Surely the owners of those establishments were aware?

Why don't they setup a Sting Operation.Put some bait out and lie and wait.Do this a couple of times. When the guys are caught red handed, you don't pat them on the head. There are ways.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

Assuming the police and other departments are not in on it.

Carte Blanch did a story on how cops sold people their stolen cars back before they were even recovered. The cops know the syndicates and they are getting their cut.

Not just Dullstroom.  Since a few years ago the bike thefts have been moving around between the town in ET.  Dullstroom, Hazyview, Graskop, etc.  Apparently these syndicate guys cruise the passes looking for specific bikes, then follow them to where they are staying.  Make very sure about your own security setup if a bike is left outside.

I am no expert, but riding laps on a mountain pass will most certainly lead to a long flight down the side of said mountain.   :lol8:

The police dude we chatted to when the guys in the bungalow next to ours had their bikes stolen in Graskop a few years ago (both bikes found in the veld nearby) said these crims were experts.  They have lookouts posted at the town entrances, know the typical routes the bikers take, etc.  He told us they can't lay in wait with any level of success as these syndicates had eyes and ears inside the police.  In some cases they even had insiders at the resorts where we stay, so they even know how long you will be there, etc.
