Will I damage my XR'S enjin?
« on: December 08, 2008, 03:45:18 pm »
I am getting a XR500R tommorow with a complete rebuild enjin. I want to leave Monday on a trip of about 600km. I will probably only get about 600 km's on before that. Now the question is will i damage the enjin if I drive far when it is not properly run in. It will be me and my wife on it with some kit. I will take my torque wrench with to torque the head on 1000km. Before I leave i plan to drain the enjin as well.
Any advice please.

if u take it ewasy you will be fine ,,,600 km's prior is good enough. vary engine speeds an never labour the motor.

enjoy the trip

Just make sure you don't run at a constant speed - the engine/rings need varying loads to bed in properly.
It's a real PITA, but it's the right way to do it.
There is nothing you can do about the past and you can't predict the future...all you have is the now...live it to the fullest.
