Thanks for the update @hartebees .

Can you give us an idea of what kind of skills tests will you be required to perform ?

415m wheelie
Smiling and riding deep sand
Various other party tricks to be demonstrated by stunt athletes.

*this may or may not be true, but should make for a fun day out... :pot:

That sounds brilliant, can't wait!!! Itching to go for a ride

Daar is geen skills test. Jy moet net 'n roete ry wat uitgesit is.

Guys & girls.

Unfortunately we have to remind you that Covid protocol will be adhered to at these events. Please make sure you wear a mask when you are off the bike amidst other people. It would also be a good idea to bring hand sanitiser with.

Update

Honda has just asked us to postpone Quest with at least a month. Due to what is happening in the country at the moment, it is fully understandable.
New dates are being worked on and will be posted soon.
Please note that the KZN Pre-Qualifier event has been cancelled.
The postponement does not affect the other Pre-Qualifier events.

Regards

Hardy does this affect the Bootcamp as well?

I am unable to make the dates for the qualifier events or the bootcamp at this stage so not worth entering. If bootcamp is also postponed that would be great... then I can try my luck  :peepwall:

Is it possible to enter without doing a pre-qualifier? And where do you enter? Website doesn't allow entries yet....

Pre Qualifiers is an opportunity for you to show the panel who you are and what you have to offer, before the online entries start. You still have to apply online though.
Yes, Kortbroek - Boot Camp will also be postponed due to the above announcement.

Dankie @Hardy de Kock . Dan sal ek maar wag tot die online entries oop is. Ek is in die Richtersveld vir werk tot einde Aug, nie moontlik om weg te breek nie.

Am I correct in assuming that the online entries open on July 19?

Won't the pre qualifiers be before the online entries then?

Am I just stupid or am I missing something?

Ja, hy sal. Ons moes gister en vandag eers die laaste logistiek vasmaak. Vannaand antwoord ek die e-mails met reŽlings.

a Big thank you to all the riders that attended the pre-qualifier at Kaleo on Saturday. The weather played along and the crew really enjoyed this group of riders.
The skill level was much higher than expected and it was good to put a face to the names.
I can't wait for the call to entry campaign to start.
To those who asked for feedback - please contact Jaco and he will make sure you get a reply.

Thanks again

So I went out to Kaleo on Saturday.....

Brilliant day, beautiful surroundings with anticipation mixed into the extremely chilled air - there were still patches of snow high in the mountains.

The Quest hopefuls - what an awesome group of people, all with a passion for riding bike, and with that, I felt at home immediately.
I can honestly say with hindsight, there was not one there that I would not go on a ride with.

Met  a lot of new people, some that I have chatted with on WD but never met like @JacoM.  (The M Stands for Maniac - he is so at home on the big HP.), some of the guys from the rally racing circuit was there -  awesome to bump into Martin Lourens, Jonathan Sinclair etc.

As per normal, the organization was top notch - allaying the pre race jitters that most felt on the morning.
The instructions were very clear - this is not a race test, this is a bike control test in a natural environment likely to be experienced on the quest.
The route in terms of technicality was what I would imagine a good test of what you would likely expect on the quest, giving one an idea if it is suited to you.

The judging, and one can imagine with the diverse skill levels involved how difficult it is, was focused on skills that you would need on the quest.

Without giving much away, it is not if you are better rally rider than BamBam Barreda or neighbour Koos, it is much more.

If you have the passion for the ride, try and get in - it promises to be a motorbike life changing event.
