Anybody have any experience with Nolan helmets?

No one?

I have worn Nolan helmets for many years (ironically I now live in Italy, where they are manufactured), and have a new N100 flip-face helmets, which I wear as I wear glasses and feel this is the most comfortable for me.

There are more 0ff-road orientated helmets with peaks
e.g. the N40 and n70 range
as well as the X-lite (also Nolan manufactured) 502

I've had Nolan's in the past and always had good experience with them. Didn't know they still sell them.

They are manufactured in Bergamo just NE of Milan in northern Italy.

The exception to the rule regarding flip up helmets must the the Shark Evo range. Designed to be both a full face and open face helmet. The visor can close in both configurations the chin piece folds all the way back when open and cannot accidentally close.

This will be my next road helmet.

No not the exception - they copied the Schuberth. Personally not a fan of Sharks - Great Whites included.

Thanks. I see the  N70-2 X can take off-road goggles with the visor in its top open position and the chin part can be removed to make it an open face helmet - great when you are crawling along difficult terrain and you don't need much storage space for it.

I had a X-lite X-551. It was a very good helmet but the fit wasn't quite right for my head shape. The visor on it had an ever so slight tint and was the best visor I've used in bright conditions. Took out all harshness without actually being tinted.

It's more of a road helmet based ADV lid, not based off a MX helmet so it doesn't offer the chin space (and thus ventilation and breathability) of a MX based helmet.

I googled for the Evo one 2 now.
Fire it up online shop has them out of stock, but has the airoh aviator and shoei hornet on special. I would love one of those, just need to crack my current helmet open first to justify it...

Peaks look uber cool on an adv bike.....  ;) :thumleft: :lol8:

Must say i can do 200km/h on the 990 without buffeting to note with a standard screen and I am 1.93m.... I used to ride with my HJC full face to work and back but the peek is just so much better i ALL aspects imo ... that piece of tape sh!te on top of visor does not work properly believe me.... ;D
I used to commute to work and back on my bike. Riding east in the morning, and west in the afternoon, the two strips of insulation tape at the top of my visor worked brilliantly. I will never ride without the strips of tape

And that is why we have peaked helmets.

The duck tape probably enhances the color scheme of the helmet  :peepwall:

Ek took in all your wise words.

Removed the peak this morning for my commute and oh boy....  Like someone said, a knife through butter.

Must now get a commuting helmet and tour lid.

Thought I would 2c to this old topic. I got the dessert fox carbon aka Klim, aka Uvex. The peak is dreadful, as previously noted on a few threads. I tried modifying the peak to allow more air flow, but alas, I just leave the peak off and ride it like a road helmet. 2 lines of insulation tape on the top and viola.

Yeah, that's the one. Clearly they have modified the peak and stabilized it. The desert fox one comes with a sheet of cooked lasagna.

I have the normal Desert Fox one and wonder if the peak on that is different to the carbon unit?
Peak is quite sturdy on this one
