Look, let's face it, and this is bitter to me to say, but the Japs were right in not developing 2stroke TPI, as it is a dead end street.

I don't follow.
Technology will always have a shelf life and at the moment, i see hard enduro being dominated by TPi bikes.

Look Dirtwarp, for 99% of us it does not matter if KTM develops the lightest, fastest and most powerful MX bike on this planet, if their D/S bikes are obviously being put on the backburner quality wise.

But I know what you mean.

If it's a KTM and it's not a race bike, it doesn't count.

6/7/890 pfft
The 950 was a race bike first, a DS bike later. Its legend speaks for itself.
Same for their MX bikes in DS trim

If you think it's fanboy talk, go and compare the husaberg motor to this sxf and come show me a single part that's still the same.

The sparkplug!

Yeah - Imagine how Husaberg and Husqvarna must feel..... :thumleft:

Yip. A prime example of the globalization monster gobbling up unique, bi-spoke and inventive companies and shitting out carbon copies of their single vision.

Did you proof read this before pressing the submit button?

Do you realize how much tech advances have since been made?
Those companies were dieing, at least ktm prevented their knowledge from following them to the grave.

If you think it's fanboy talk, go and compare the husaberg motor to this sxf and come show me a single part that's still the same.

Oh, like the Japanese, copy and improve?

Nooooohhhh - They can't copy and improve like KTM.
Dirtwarp - You are right. If I want to holeshot, I use the KTM. If I want to finish, I use the JAP bikes.  :thumleft:
Not too sure why you drag other brands into the "lofsang" but you are going to get into arguments (valid or not) either way.
Fix that 501 and go ride :imaposer:

Firstly, the 1st 5 comments, starting with yourself, dragged other brands into this.
Don't point that at me.

Secondly, if you want to finish a race, you are welcome to do so on a ktm as they dominate all final standings in the off road world

Finally, my 501 doesn't need fixing, I'm under border arrest at the moment (lockdown)

For an argument to exist, a baseline is required.
Or do you see no difference between establishing a baseline and 'dragging' other brands into a discussion?

The baseline is this; if you want to get ahead in the off road technology scene, you have to copy KTM.

Substance and context required

Don't use a standard Yamaha with a cost of R140,000 against a KTM or Honda with a cost of R500,000 plus each.
Dirtwarp - I have no issue with your orgasms over all things KTM. Your copy argument is "warped". (Sorry, I had to  O0)
Brands learn from each other - If they didn't KTM would still use KTM engineers, and never have bought better skills.

I've provided the substance and context to 2SD in some other thread already.
Its not as you might think.

Whether it's copied or learned, this article points out how much Japs still fall behind.
Who cares where the knowledge comes from? Its about what tech you get for your $

Why is the decade-old tech still competitive against KTM?  It is not like Katoom is winning in every class on the globe. :ricky:
