XCW does exist , that is their enduro models , and they are available in 2 and 4 stroke . The XC and XCF range are SX models with 18 inch rear wheel , sidestand and revised suspension for the GNCC series , very different demands to enduro .

Say what?

You are linking shootouts but the MXA article is related to technological prowess.

Best tech does not mean best all round bike.
Everything needs to work together.

What it does provide is incentive for guys like suz and yam, to drop their weight or honda and kaw, to add hydraulic clutches. -this is valuable, and why I value KTM's ongoing mission for evolution.
I honestly don't understand how you folks can't appreciate this?

Sent from my IN2013 using Tapatalk

And then that 2021 250 Yamaha, with it's ancient technology, beats all the other guys?

Hydraulic clutches??  Like on the 790??

Hey 2 dinge:

Where did I say they didnt , read my response above properly , want nou is jy besig om jou naam gat te maak
Mr.Mechanic,
You assumed that the XCW is used for enduro
The XCW has not been in production for many years already  :imaposer:

The non-MX riders, use the XCF for enduro.

*Waiting to be told that GNCC is not an enduro race...

The enduro models are XCFW or EXCF , depending on the country , the XCF is based on the SXF , the XCFW is not , the XCW is reserved for the 2!stroke models

Referring again to this comment you made:
WTF does it matter what it does on paper , we ride bikes not paper , the other very simple fact is that more people ride enduro type terrain and mx bikes are not the most suitable for that type of riding . Actually the last I recall was that the top selling dirt bike in the USA was the humble KLX300R .
BTW , in the world enduro championships the E1 , E2 and E3 were won by 2 Italian manufacturers for the last 3 years , namely Beta and TM

XCF's are used for GNCC E1/2/3 not the EXC-F
Getit?

Do you know what GNCC is , have you watched one at all , they use an mx track as part of the route , the  rest of the track will wind through woods or forest , from what I have seen of the races I have seen is nothing technical , as I stated earlier like a long mx race .
World endurance is as far removed from GNCC  as mx  is from Erzberg , and that is where XCWs  , XCFWs are used . The XCF was originally an American only model for the GNCC series , but a few have gone to other countries .

Agreed , the xcf, with it's harder hitting motor, is not the tool of choice in say, de wildt, where too much/abrupt power is just too much.

Be that as it may, the exc-f do benefit from the lighter weight (albeit not as light as xcf), same strong clutch, brakes etc.

Don't know about you, but the weight on paper is weight that you have to muscle around in the technical too.

So, the technical advances made with the sxf, are still shared with the exc-f, where applicable

Dux is correct.  KTM offers numerous XC-W and XCF-W models here.

4-stroke = 500 and 350 XCF-W
2-stroke = 300, 250. and 150 XC-W

You think?
XCW was a 4stroke model introduced in 2008 and was replaced by the XCF-W in 2017

No man, when you scrape around the bottom of the barrel, you should be able to see that your Kentucky is finished. You started this thread because the okes gave you kak over KTM's kak suspension

on the 790...........

Seeing as MXA and myself are the only people around here that appreciate the role ktm has been playing in the evolution of mx tech, I saw that as a way to end this thread with an off topic joke.

Pearls and swines kinda situation.

Perhaps now that KTM is so advanced in technology that the mighty HRC is copying them, according to you and not MXA, they could start working on getting the Dakar title back from the guys that copied them. :imaposer:

There are multiple issues with your statement, I'm afraid
1- I never said HRC copied them, MXA and myself said Honda copied them.

2- dramatic changes to Dakar lost KTM the title.

But you are correct that ktm needs to learn from HRC now.

Otherwise Honda might just own it as they do with Baja 1000

And as soon as those WR's finish the 2021 Dakar, improvements can start on them.......
