The engine looks like the TA125, an over-the-counter GP bike for sale to the public by irresponsible Yamaha.

No Sir, that's a plain jane YAS1 motor, perhaps a bit tickled by those pipes.
Yes, it was my dream to own one then but far from those production racers offered to Joe Public.

Cases vertically split, contrary to the TZ's horizontally split cases  ;)
But then also the side cover is a dead giveaway, as these weren't present (extra weight & nada real function except for neatening things up!) on the production racers.
If the extra cooling ribs on the heads (the small horizontal one's) threw you off look here, some versions had them:

Sure it's modified, 'course it is, the whole bike is... and utterly impractical too, but the whole makes for a genuinely luvverly project bike, minute in it's dimensions (that block is almost same size as the FS1's keep in mind!) and I would love to have it, it would get a pristine place in my living room!  :thumleft: :P

Bart, the TA125 has vertically split crankcases, just like the AS3 it was based on.

I think that with the TZ came watercooling, and a single cylinder 125?

Yip, with around 27.5 screaming horses  ;D
But I don't think the owner built it to be used, more likely to be just a lekker project bike.
The photo does not give the scale though, that engine is two fifties side by side, a tiiiny thing in all!
