One of the features of this bike is the extra effort Honda went to, to make it quiet. Unfortunately some of these measures are better in theory than in practice, the engine has extra plastic side covers which will probably help prevent scuffing and scratches from light impact, so they will stay for now.

They are however lined with open cell foam and this is know to retain moisture and dust, ultimately causing corrosion to form out of sight under the covers.  The solution - remove the foam.

I havent ridden the bike off road or washed the bike yet, even so there was moisture present when I removed the covers.

More preventative maintenance, dielectric grease in all the connections, helps prevent corrosion of the terminals - although in comparison to the 701 the Hondas electrics are pretty well weather sealed from the factory.

Also took the chance to reroute the negative lead to the correct position, I assume the battery is installed after the bike is un-created.

And a quick pic of the US ECU while im in there - told ya they all look the same

And finally removed some wiring and switches that are not really required, except by EU legislators. Also compared to the Husqvarna no dongles required.

Ill say more on the one on the left in my next update.

Wash your hands man. O0   You are giving Honda a bad name.  Before long Honda and LandRover will be mentioned in the same sentence. :lol8:

Replaced the rear brake switch with a hydraulic one, neatens things up and less moving parts.

Hi Bud - just a heads-up that I have had protective FRAME decals cut, for the CRF 300L frame, left and right - would like you to try out a pair, if you would, before we manufacture them...
(they are BLACK purely to show up against the GREY frame where they made need alteration - finals will be CLEAR...)

Cheers
Chris

Looks like a Honda factory engineer's hands now

Quick hijack if I may.  It's clearly the same pic so how the hell did you do that?  Photoshop?  I could use that trick before coming home for lunch some days.  :lol8:

A quick (10 second) snapseed edit on the phone before posting - these are not meant to be works of art, and I like the grungy feel for wrenching pics  ;)
