Race Dog
INZI is a 3 year old thoroughbred with all the tenacity of a toddler on red bull. Her pilot is a middle aged, middle income, overweight and under talented average Joe.
An urban dweller who sadly knows what the color Teal looks like.......
Inzi had this plan to go ride some passes and naturally I had to go along to start her up in the morning and cover her up at night.
Some passes were hardly passes but they are recognized as such and some should not be called a pass.
The plan was simple. JHB - Zastron, Zastron - Rhodes, Rhodes - Rhodes, Rhodes - Underberg and Underberg back Home on consecutive days.
Bastervoetpad aka "The Bastard" got the better of me. I ran out of time, inspiration, humor and energy to complete it all the way to the top.
The plan was never to defeat the mighty passes or set world records or prove to the world what could be done.
The plan was simply to see some new sights, get away from the rat race, smell some flowers, sing to the mountains, drink some water from a stream, meet some strangers, have a few beers and soak up some fresh air. Maybe sit on a unfamiliar stoep at the end of the day with a beer in hand and a smile that cannot be wiped.
All of these were achieved, some in abundance.
With a limited skill set, a tooth ache and a bag full of clothes, snacks and tools we set of on Saturday from JHB.
2107KM, 28 Passes, 5 Days, 2 Falls, 1 Puncture, 1 Constant Grin and plenty of beer.
