Interesting that Sam seemed to be out. He beat all the KTM guys, and the favorites.

I recon Ross is going thump them in the Dakar next year if he races and has a good team.

And the guys have landed in Mother Russia..
ll crews and riders arrived in Omsk for the Silk Way Rally, second leg of the FIM Cross Country Rallies Championship 2021. The checks don't start until tomorrow, so we have the pleasure of enjoying the night show in the centre of Omsk, located in Siberia.

boys in blue getting ready

The competitors will immediately tackle the first day of the Silk Way Rally. This is the shortest special stage of the entire race – there are only 87 kilometers kind of a ‘shakedown’ and warm-up. But at the same time, the leg as a whole is the longest in the entire rally – there are almost 670 kilometers.

That's a long liasson. Like the days when the Dakar was a serious rally. Its awesome that this rally is 10 days. About time we had a long rally again with big distances.

@XT JOE Thanks so much for your regular updates - really appreciate it! :thumleft:

bikes at a bivie in one of those beautiful unpronounceable named towns

💥 ROSSI IN P2 AFTER STAGE 1.... what does Stage 2 hold in store for our #kalahariferrari? 🇧🇼
STAGE 2 – CHUYSKY TRAKT
📍NOVOSIBIRSK ➡️GORNO-ALTAISK
📅 July, 3
🔴 D: 581.73 km
🔴 SS: 132.74 km
🔴 80% GRAVEL/20% SANDY ROADS

This is the last leg in Russia, then the Silk Way Rally goes to Mongolia.
The Terrain will change from one special stage to another. The competitors will find wide earth roads here followed by narrow forest paths with bumps and holes.

Then the surface will change again: the track will continue to pass through the Siberian forests, but the surface will become smooth and sandy. It will allow racers to increase the pace, but they will complete the special stage on bumpy gravel.

After the finish of the special stage, the competitors will have to drive 168 kilometers of the liaison along the legendary Chuysky trakt – a beautiful mountain road straight to the bivouac in Gorno-Altaysk.

That's a good position to be in. Rather not open the stage
