question , why would a new knobbly throw off its knobs?

The pace of the KLRs was too much for it!!

Jay's XR has Dunlop D707's on and they are a Hard Terrain Supercross and Motocross Tire, I think the few stretches of tar we did destroyed the tire far quicker than pure dirt would.

Good 1 agreed!!

So the news on my GS is not all bad - water did get in through the air intake but no damage done fortunately (due to the action taken at the time) so the bike will be back on the road today or tomorrow - GS rides again!!!!!

Thank's for a truly magnificent ride....  :thumleft:

:imaposer: For the record the XR did about 100km more on the back as every so often I got bored behind the KLR's and started playing..... doing some mud slinging and trying to get the ass of the XR to overtake the front  :patch: :peepwall:

Bored? You could have attempted to overtake a KLR for some excitement, that would have kept you busy all day.

:ricky: I did...... but realized I had no clue where I was and quietly slipped back into the pack....  :xxbah:  Must say at one point I was getting well out of shape when a KLR  >:D came past me like I was standing still..... must have been when half my tire was disintegrating  :dousing:

Took it to Yamaha Centurion and they are getting the Dunlop people out to come have a look..... hope I get a new one out of them ::)

That's really good news. Any engine damage could have resulted in a hefty bill. Need to look at that snorkel mod for future rides. Is the battery OK?

So the airbox was filled with water, which it kept sucking in causing the motor to falter?

Guess I must get that snorkel mod done too.
