KTM 1290 - Wheel balancing Weights
« on: June 13, 2021, 01:20:01 pm »
Excuse me if this is a stupid question….. but I just noticed my 2019 KTM 1290 SAS has no rear wheel balancing weights. Bought the bike a month ago new.
I have not paid so much attention to this aspect yet….but it  now caught my eye.

Surely there should be…or am I wrong?
Couldn’t see if there were any that it might have come loose, no spot on the rim where they might have been stuck to.

Being a KTM, they probably fell off as you left the dealer ....................... or were thrown off, I'm more inclined to believe .........................  >:D
Don't let fear hold you back ..... take it with you!

Stock ktm weights are black like the rims so maybe you’re not seeing them?

Otherwise go have them balanced at a Tyre place and see if they even need. I’ve had all the weights come off my front wheel before and it didn’t make a perceivable difference to me.

The front wheel has as per pic, rear….nothing.
When my VStrom lost the weights on the front wheel I noticed it as the spot where it was stuck to, were very clean and that being on a rim that was also clean. Rear wheel….has dust on it but not a single spot where I can determine where it actually should have been…”if” there were any.

Will in any case chat to dealer tomorrow to enquire….it was just worrying….

Maybe it’s just an extremely well made rim

If the bike is running smoothly, I wouldn't worry about it.

If the rear tyre needs changing soon, the wheel will be balanced

Bike has 1200km on the clock….cannot say that I felt any issue relating to a missing weight…but you know how one’s mind plays games with you….

Will give an update tomorrow following my call KTM tomorrow
