Trax Pannier setup for ‘19 KTM 1290 SAS - Advice please
« on: June 19, 2021, 05:05:49 pm »
I’m looking at fitting Trax panniers to my 2019 1290 SAS.

Would it be advisable to rather have a 45L on the left side & 37L on the right hand side or would 2 x 37L’s also be fine?

45/37 combo seems from a setup perspective to be what the suppliers mostly sell but have seen many guys having the 37/37 setup on their bike.

Considering balance setup…suggestions and/or advice would be appreciated.

Hi Van_Biker

Yes most commonly guys will fit the 37L + 45L combo kits, as this is maximizing the space needs.
Putting 2 x 37L panniers on the bike is not an issue at all, all depends on your preferences and needs.

Both of the above options is more than suitable of the KTM 1290.

The big reason for the combo kits is:
Carrier and case configurations have been carefully selected to complement the motorcycle models rear geometry and exhaust system.

...as GP says, the 37L and 45L are 'balanced', or rather EQUI-DISTANCE from the mid-line of the bike, whereas the 37L + 37L would be NON Equi-distanced, meaning one side would be 'closer in' than the other - that's our experience, anyway!

Will CHECK my assumptions, and revert...
