Old School vs newer Tech......which One??
« on: June 28, 2021, 03:14:50 pm »
Ek kyk na 'n baie nice 2014 model bike, kom ons se nou maar 'n KLR 650.

1) Ja my gat jeuk, maar BAIE nice fiets, hy "trek my" nogal baie.
2) Newer tech (soos in 31 jaar nuwer), starter button, etc etc

???

(PS - so paar manne al klaar ge PM hieroor BAIE dankie vir julle advies!! :thumleft: :thumleft:)

Petri,

I had 3 KLR’s and they only gave me great mileage and not a day’s shit. Simple and cheap to maintain and ideal for the riding you describe. If you find one or get one and do the normal preventative maintenance you will have a good bike

You, being slightly “vertically challenged” like myself can then also look at other options like a DR650 or if you want fuel injected look for a XT660R.

All in all, I suggest go ride all the different bikes that interest you and then decide, as long as you keep Betty

I have never been able to convince myself to sell my old red donkey , no matter what other bikes I have in the garage next to him.
Everyone should own a KLR at least once in their lives... even if it is only for 28 minutes

I also think they are too similar - but why not look at an F800GS instead, if you want a bit more of a tourer thats newer? Or a XT660Z?

I still jol on my 1981 XT500, and for a newer burst, the G650 X-Challenge, although that requires a looong inseem....

The XT is better

Let me expand on this

The KLR has a nice strong torquey engine - the rest of the bike is crap ...made out of the cheapest components and materials that Kawasaki could find

The suspension on my wheelbarrow with a permatoob is better ...and the brakes on a KLR are truly terrible
The older I get the faster I was

Koop vir jou 'n XT660Z of 'n 990. Hulle is baie beter as jy bietjie langer paaie gaan ry.

800GS of 990 of 660XT
En voeg hom by, dan het jy n ou bike om heeltyd aan te werk en n ander om die oor te draai.

NS
