'n Groot tor het 'n ruk gelede in my kletterpet vasgevlieg.

So here is mine.. should i toss away this here helmet.. (airoh commander)
It fell from the mirror on to the road.. small cracks visible.
No other damage whatsoever basically brand new. . .

I am fascinated by helmet protection and for years have wondered which Brand of Helmet really has the best protection for basically all the helmet damage examples displayed in this thread already such as a rocks hitting the helmet square on, hitting the dirt face first with the helmet taking the brunt to skidding on tar and then the typical helmet first into a wall, tree, car or any other hazardous object out there?

Is there a thread somewhere as I really would like to know if there is a BEST Helmet out there or is there only a most expensive one which should be but normally is not the best?

Maybe someone can start a thread about specifically which helmet renders the best protection  and is the best out there that money can buy.

Looks is not part of the criteria.

Purely my own opinion: I think most helmets, whether cheap or expensive, are roughly similar in terms of safety - it's after all what's required of them by law. However, where the more expensive helmets come into play are with things like weight, wind noise, comfort, etc.

The best helmet is the one you can afford and the one that best fits your head.

Example: For road use I use Shark, fits my head like a glove, I prefer Shoei and they can be more expensive but it just does not work on my head.  :thumleft:

Best helmet: Check the Fortnine reviews on Facebook. There is A LOT of stuff involved, and the more expensive options isnt just more expensive due to noise/looks.

I have a few helmets, average class helmets, and recently noticed my supposed best and newest helmet was actually made in 2010! (so much for buying on special...) And while I dont subscribe to the 5 year rule (its bs, btw) this is pushing it and explains the disintegrating padding. So nice thread, reminds me I need to start budgeting/researching for new helmet.
