Intl bike shipping - have you done it?
« on: July 06, 2021, 09:26:39 am »
The 990 I have at the moment is one of those examples you won't find again so I really want to keep it for the long haul.

Does anyone here have experience with shipping a bike internationally, and can recommend the company you used?

Please & thank you

Did it last year September, a 950 to London. Cost me about R35k, about R30k was the shipping cost.

Was a stressful thing to do although everything went fine. Covid delayed things a bit in SA, but euro side was great.

I wouldn't do it again. I'd have been better off selling the bike in SA but it was an emotional thing, so logic went out the window.

That's quite a bit to get it across, did you go air or sea?

I'll guess sea

The entire global shipping is fcked

Delays at harbors lead to a shortage of containers
Delays on delays
Fewer ships
Etc etc

Can imagine.

Our travel alone has been delayed going on 18 months at this stage. Hurry up & wait is the order of the day

Was by sea. I used freight factory. I liked that the bike got it's own pallete, etc.

Etienne ek sien nou net, dit was 'n RoRo shipment.........die mense doen net voertuie. Weet nie of bikes ook RoRo kan gaan nie.

Die Mogs het so 4 weke gevat, dalk 5 tot by London Dokke. Koste per Mog was digby R 200 000 elk (so R 170000 se rigting).

I used Global Paws to send my mother's rat/dachshund to New Zealand. No way I would be able to do that on my own, they managed the whole process.
