Dodging kangaroos, borders and Sheila’s
« on: August 24, 2021, 03:29:14 am »
So I will start a ride from Brisbane on Sunday.

The big goal is to do a Solo Simpson desert crossing. However I have to be out of a hotspot for 14 days before Northern Territory will allow me in.

So I will ride west to Carnarvon National park then north and do the Creb track and then to Cape York, the most northern point of Australia. By then I should be allowed into NT so I i will go south and cross the Simpson desert.

All my riding gear, tools, gps and luggage items is still in storage in South Africa.

I had to buy all of it again .

So the kit
Yamaha T7 tenere
Bashplate B&B
Luggage rack B&B
Bark buster handgaurds

And then a dry bag setup.
Got a brand new 11.4 liter Giant Loop fuel bladder on Gumtree.

For the Simpson crossing I will need 40 liters fuel, 10-16 liter water and food.

So I will tru pack as light as possible, whilst still having enough gear, clothes and food to enjoy the rest of the journey.

It will be a 9000-10000 km round trip.

You get going quick Tau. We were going to go to Carnarvon and had second thoughts about it. Bit basic for the wife. Did a 600km adventure ride over the weekend with an overnight at the Bowen River Hotel which was quite magical. We were there at the same night as the Postie bike charity ride. You should have seen the back up vehicles and spare bikes.  Saw quite a few groups of deer along the Bowen river which were not skittish at all. I thought they would be quite gun shy around Collinsville.

Sterkte Tau, dis blykbaar nogal 'n tawwe ene.

Ek is helemal oorlaai.

The quantities of liquid that you are going to have to carry are quite daunting. This guy went the easy way.
