Honda XRE300 Adv
« on: August 29, 2021, 10:20:48 am »
This looks interesting!
Built for Brazilian and possibly Indian markets. Should work well here at a reasonable price...
26hp and 27Nm, 18 and 21 inch wheels and ABS... Looks like old Tornado/CBX250 motor - reworked...

Hope we get it, now years later people realize they should have bought two Tornado's, one to use and one for a spare in the attic!! :deal:  :thumleft:

Under 50k and they will have a chance.
Otherwise I will rather look for a 2nd hand CRF250L

Honda SA might not bring it in as it might be competition for the 300L. The L has 1 hp more power and torque 26.6 says the interwebs.
Hope they bring it in. :thumleft:

It will appeal to a different market, too.
Those that likes air cooled carburetted motors.

Why would Honda build the exact same bike twice? The 300L sits firmy in that spot and the Rally gives the "adventure" version.

This bike should cost quite a bit less than the L. If only they could have made it looking a bit nicer than a Mr D special.

Some people prefer aircooled, carburetted engines.
Especially if it is half the price of the newer tech.

The Brazilian XRE300 was available in Brazil from around 2010 onwards for a goodly while, even while the 250 Tornado was still selling here.
Now: Honda XR250  Husqvarna SM630  KTM 690R  KTM 500
Then: XR650R  TE510  TE630  690R

I would say at 10k less than the 300L - thus way cheaper than the 300Rally, it will make a lot of sense...

It will not make homologation or whatever the fancy word
That is why we get Fi and ABS
The new KLR Fi is doing rather good here in the US but ee will apparently not see it in SA
SA work on the Euro 4 and now soon the  Euro 5 rules

Yes, and that is bloody ridiculous in a country where more than 80% of raw sewerage runs down our river systems to end-up in the oceans, while we are still generating electricity with coal!!! :xxbah: Bloody joke!!!

It seems the 300 is fuel injected and has 5 gears and not 6 like the Tornado had.

What I like about the 300 Adv is that the seat height is 860mm and it looks by removing some more foam it can be dropped more. Very important for shorter riders.
The 300 L is 880mm.
