Guidance on the value of a camper
« on: September 08, 2021, 02:46:55 pm »
Yip, the time has come to go back to my trailer trash roots.

Looking at a 1990 model Mitsubishi L300 2L Ci Xplorer, 121 000km on the clock. Original and good condition.

What price does google say do  I look at ?

80000 to 160000 ZAR

Was about to say I've seen them from about 75000-150000 in my searches over the last year

They seem to have gotten progressively more popular, having watched the market for a good year now anytime you see one it seems to be sold after a week or two, prices between 130-190k seem to be the norm depending on condition accessories ect.

That's what I see. One step up when they go to Sprinter etc chassis from 2000's up prices jump R100k

Itís always subjective to each guys budget but for me itís hard to justify spending the 300-500k on a sprinter or Iveco when itís something you use so seldom, at the price point these come in at its good enough to give you 99% of the experience with a lot less spend and if it stands for 6 months you donít feel bad. They are damn slow though so you have to mentally go prepare yourself, we used a Puma defender before this for camping/overlanding so Iím used to going nowhere slowly. At the price point these little guys come in itís hard to beat the bang for buck experience

So this one did not work for us. Price to high and bo-bont-onder-vol-stront.

I'm now in line for Etienne's one, but anyone else come across something in the R150k to R180k price range closer to me, please let me know.
