Lost paperwork [emoji85]
« on: September 16, 2021, 06:10:50 am »
Morning all.I have my eye on a project that I want to get but it doesnít have paperwork(lost registration papers)itís been standing for about 5years that means that the license is also far behind.
Would it be a massive ball ache to get papers for my dream project.and is it possible for me to check if the said project is not stolen or to trace the previous owner?
Kind regards

Take reg, engine, chassis number to a place like DEKRA - they are able to helpp with info re. stolen etc.

To get papers is impossible - only the registered owner can apply in person for duplicate ownership doc.
Perhaps there is a way around by building up a scrap bike from parts and registering it, assuming its not listed as stolen......

@petri oosthuizen  - maybe you have more accurate info on the legalities?

Yes, but to do it you have to hand int the registration papers from the owner you bought it from - thats the issue....... Without them, you cannot do change of ownership....

Its a Fraud thing - can you imagine how many vehicles would suddenly disappear off of a legitimate owners name and suddenly you have no car/caravan/boat/motorhome/trailer....

I was able to get a Suzuki DR 350's documentation sorted, with only an ID copy to my disposal.

I used a person, who was surely connected at the licensing section.

Cost me quite a bit, but it's registered and licensed in my name.

The bike was GP registered, and docs done in MP.

Good to know chopperpilot, still waiting on the owner of said vehicle to make up their minds.trying to use the lost paperwork to my advantage to push the price down.as previously said the vehicle has been standing for about 5years and I just want to save it from turning into a weed box or even worse a pile of rust
