SORTED! Stuck in Oudtshoorn, where to get rear tyre
« on: September 19, 2021, 08:17:24 pm »
Hi, we rode from the Baviaans to oudtshoorn today, got a tear in the rear tyre. Had to plug it twice with 4 plugs and limped hope at 60 for the last 30 km. Mitas E07

can anyone help with where to find a rear tyre in Oudtshoorn? Triumph Scrambler 1200, 150/70/r17

Need to get back to cape town tomorrow!

17" is a bit scarce, try JJ Bikes Tomorrow Morning. Maybe he can fit a Gator for you.

We're on a farm just outside oudtshoorn, towards Mosselbay, 81km to George... Might be a stretch

For reference, this was the wear at the start of the trip... Thought it would be OK, clearly not.

Also kicked up a rock that removed my indicator, probably still lying somewhere in Baviaans. Automatic tail tidy

Hectic stuff, glad you got sorted! I told my friend last night I hope something like this doesn't happen to us when riding far out but then again I guess it is a part of the adventure.  :pot:

That 's good to know, glad you got sorted.

I had a flat in Mosselbay 2 years ago and Fug It got me to Oudshoorn, but then it was a bit of a mission to find a place willing to help. Eventually came right at Hi-Way Bande (Oudtshoorn) who could patch it for me. Very friendly service.

Have added Steve's to my list for next time.

What luggage system do you have ?
"Riding a motorcycle is technology's closest equivalent to being a cowboy. Our modern horse has two wheels instead of four, but it's nervous system is appropriately rated in horsepower" Robert Edison Fulton jr. From his book "One Man Caravan"
