When researching the faults with the LC 1200 GS/A models, the rear shock seemed to be the highest failure part followed by the front. The rear shock has been reported to fail between 15,000-25,000kms which I think is not acceptable in my opinion for a bike that is supposed to be designed for on/off road. I note that there is company in SA who overhauls the standard shocks without the need for any after market replacement units. In the UK there is a similar provider and I had my rear shock overhauled as a precaution (my bike has covered approximately 15,000kms). I was going to do the front but this required half the bike to be disassembled to get to the top bolt of the shock, so I decided not to do it and take the risk.

What are the experience of other LC1200 owners? A lot of scaremongering, or is there a real issue?
