It was a bright & sunny Saturday morning when I rode into the parking lot at the New Rd Mug & Bean to meet the rest - Shark, Adventurer, CMA_Andy, Johan & Marius.

After coffee and HUGE muffins, Sharky led the way to his playground.

After stopping at the first dirt section to switch the ABS off, it was fun all the way!!!!

The briefing:

Some water crossings - we had to be careful for the locals  8)
Andy doing his thing:

And Adventurer:

"I think that mud over there looks lekker!!"

So I went! It was FUN!!

Check the mud flying!!

And what will a ride be without a tumble???   Thanks guys for the "lift"!

The scene:  Sharky showed me the river sand section, and promptly I was following him, lekker!!!  Where you exit is a 90 deg turn with a walletjie.  I was full taps, and then the rear gripped!!  I was flying out of the river!!! Over a sloot, and then I made a big bolemakiesie!

Adventurer will post more pics (I hope)

Thanks for getting the guys together to come ride bla bla, it was fun.

I dont know many people who would have made it up that bit you tried, no wonder it didnt work out. But you are riding the 1200 well now, big shift in confidence and ability.

I think it was technical enough for the guys who wanted to ride like that, and those who didnt want to do the harder stuff could ride around no problem. Apart from the mud section you show it was pretty dry, none of the mud pits we had last time.
I stalled the KLR on a silly hill at walking pace and had to hop of as I put it down, doh!  Thumpers lock up tight when the engine stops.

Nice meeting you Andy and Marius, the dude who rides the Dakkie so well, too.
Good to see Adventurer and Johan on thier 1150 Adv's again.

Gave some oke riding a little CRF230 a word, he was in shorts t-shirt and takkies.  Says he has a helmet and will wear it next time. I hope for his sake he does, but in the words of one of my gurus and mentors, "stoopid hurts".

I would just advise anyone not to go there alone. Its pretty remote and there have been incidents.
