This would make a nice short distance commuter, I always liked the 450 did not know there was a 250 too. :thumleft:

Knew about the GS250/450S, but did not know that we got them as GSX variants too.

Excellent engines, but of course now 40 years old.

My first bike was the GSX450 - easy to manage, quite enjoyed it.

Manufacturer, capacity, general kind of genre. That's how this dopey old bugger identifies motorbikes.

It just confuses me to have to work where all the S's X's and R's go!  :o ::) :-\

Not to mention all the gees cees and haitches.  :dontknow:

The latest bikes confuse me a lot, especially superbikes.

Dug out some pics which are  more than 40yrs old and have turned a bit yellow with age - but yes it was a 400 not a 450:

Hi @2StrokeDan nee was beslis die GSX450, selfde soos in die gumtree add hier bo net metaal rooi gewees. Het nog iewers 'n foto en sal kyk of ek hom kan scan en plaas maar in Piet Retief tot einde Nov. Ek het iewers nog sy oorspronklike handleiding wat saam met hom gekom het ook.

Thanks a lot, I always thought that they simply remained "GS's", while the 750 and 1100 became GSX.

The original GS range came out in a 250, 400, 425, 450, 550, 650, 750, 850 and 1000cc.

Know the GS range but ones again did not know about the 425, the rest yes. Loved the GS 1000 G and would not mind owning one.

I don't know how the naming convention worked in SA, but there were definitely GSX250 and 550, but no 450.

The 450 was a GS, not GSX, with a 2 valve per cylinder head.
