Help On Pricing of Tyres
« on: November 22, 2021, 07:46:13 am »
I got a pair of Michelin Desert tyres in the garage that I got with the bike but with my type of riding being mostly tar and gravel roads, this can go to a better home.

What would be a fair price for these? I am not sure about the mileage.

You have good eyes then, I wanted to check it yesterday to add to the thread but couldn't find any - maybe that's why I wear glasses.

What is the rule of thumb for manufacture dates of tyres in general? Of course, this is an important part since this is the connect patch between you and the road/gravel.

While most tyres will need replacement before they achieve 10 years, it is recommended that any tyres in service 10 years or more from the date of manufacture, including spare tyres, be replaced with new tyres as a simple precaution even if such tyres appear serviceable and even if they have not reached the legal wear limit.

I wont worry to much about the date, those tyres will be used in extreme conditions and as long as you have heavy duty tubes not much can go wrong. If you put them on your 1290 and go 200km.h down the highway I might be a problem.

Agreed, catastrophic failure is highly unlikely except maybe on hot tar at high speed.
In their natural habitat these should be fine
