Some information from the Dakar rules Manual:

6P ELIGIBLE MACHINES
6P1 GENERAL CONDITION OF ADMISSION

1) The Dakar Rally is open to ‚??Marathon, Super Production and Quads‚?Ě machines of 2 and 4 wheels, freely available for sale or not, adapted to off-road use and complying to the norms imposed by the French Highway Code and the FIM technical regulations for off-road rallies.
All machines must be registered and possess a registration document. All temporary registrations are forbidden.

2) All technical modifi cations are forbidden if they are not expressly authorised by the current
regulations pertaining to the category or group in which they are entered, respecting the general prescriptions stated here or imposed by the ‚??survival equipment‚?? article 32P1, that
may impose a penalty which can go as far as disqualifi cation. Motorcycle parts must retain
their original function.

3) At any moment during the event it is each competitor‚??s responsibility to prove to technical
stewards or sporting stewards that their motorcycle conforms to the regulations in their
entirety, as well as to the Vienna Convention concerning machines used on public highways,
that may refuse a start or impose a disqualification.

4) The maximum number of machines that may be entered is 250 motorcycles and 20 quads.

6P4 ELIGIBLE CATEGORIES
GROUP 1: MARATHON

Classes:
1.1 from 0 to 450 cm3
1.2 over 451 cm3

GROUP 2: SUPER PRODUCTION
Classes:
2.1 from 0 to 450 cm3
2.2 over 451 cm3

GROUP 3: QUAD
Classes:
3.1 from 0 to 500 cm3
3.2 501 to 800 cm3

In Groups 1 and 2, twin cylinders of over 451cm3 are forbidden.
Quads will be featured in a separate results list.

Tiger -- now I know why u are so clever always on the net

Think good rule to limit it seeing that the okes are pegging even on the smaller bikes --maybe limit it to 2 strokes MTX and TS 50s


Current rides: F800GS x 2

Id rather be riding my motorcycle thinking about God than sitting in church thinking about my motorcycle.

Daar mag geen twee selinder bikes deelneem nie.

The 990's consistently were able to clock in excess of 200k/ hour / spate of high speed accidents and deaths. To slow race down restriction introduced re 1 cylinder
