As its a single cylinder bike, why does it have 2 exhaust pipes...surely 1 pipe would be a weight saving? Hhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmm

The bike that is extensively used in the Dakar is the 690 Rallye.  Not quite the same as the 690 Enduro.

The factory bikes have a few little mods done - awesome bikes....

654cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled LC4 engine. In production trim, this engine makes 65bhp, but these are tuned to produce 70bhp at 7,500rpm and 70Nm of torque at 6,000 revs. Six-speed gearbox.  Keihin FCR 41 carburetor ?? no fuel-injection here!

Front, WP-USD 52 MA fork has 300mm of travel, the rear monoshock has 310mm of travel, and both ends are fully adjustable.

300mm disc brake at front, and a 220mm disc at the back. 90/90-21 (front) and 140/90-18 (rear) off-road rubber. Ground clearance is 320mm.

The 690 Rally carries about 36 litres of fuel, weighs 162 kilos and in the right hands, wins the toughest off-road rally-raids in the world.

But still......why 2 pipes?

Weight must be a consideration, so its ideally related to breathing perhaps?

Hmmm... them 690 Rallye's...  :drif:
I do notice that they do not have a kick starter!? or are these still to be found on the left hand side of the bike - as per the 640?

Anyone know where I can get a second hand one? I want a thump bike as a light adventure bike. Choice between Ktm 690 enduro & Bmw x challenge
It's a friggin' motorcycle, it's not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The windnoise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you scared every now and then. Suck it up. -- Scary Gary Mc
