A 49-year-old motorcyclist was killed on Monday morning in a collision with a Nissan 4X4 on the N1 south near the Rivonia off-ramp, Johannesburg metro police said.
Spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said the accident occurred when the Nissan changed lanes and allegedly cut in front of the BMW motorcycle.
The motorcyclist died at the scene.
The accident caused major traffic back-ups around Johannesburg, Minnaar said.
It occurred around 06:25 and the scene was only cleared just before 09:00.
