A different photo album...
« on: February 11, 2009, 10:31:24 pm »
This is how I make it bearable for other people to look at my travel photos. My photos of my London - SA  (west coast)and a trip to Iceland

At least if the photos are tough going the music makes it a little better.
Cheers

awesome :thumleft:
There are no short cuts to anywhere worth going!
Performance is paramount, niceties only exist if it doesn't affect performance.

Don't rush it, it's helmet time you need, not a destination. Take it easy.

Took me bout 4 months to get down the west coast. That was riding almost every day! The iceland trip was in total 2 months. Wasted a lot of time waiting for the Nigerian and Angolan visa!! Eventually had to fly over Angola anyway!

Fantastic. I'm very jealous.  :thumleft:

2 Questions if I may:

What happened to your dad?

Why the XL600?

Cheers.

My dad hit a very sandy patch on a dirt road and broke his leg. Took 11 hours to eventually get him to the hospital. A very big wake up call for all of us!!
As for the bike...well I wanted a bike that I could fix with a hammer, cable ties and a can of wd40. Also a bike that in a very bad situation I could leave on the side of the road and continue my trip on a bus etc.
My bike with all preparations (H&B panniers) must have cost me bout R35000. I am sure that some person in a hut in the middle of the congo would have a go at fixing it if it broke. As for say a KTM..no chance.
If you have a lot of fun in africa it will F$%*!! your bike up. It hurts less if it costs less.
Cheers
