wet and windy to Baviaans; dry and freaken hot through Baviaans
« on: February 21, 2009, 11:05:14 pm »
Early in December, I cant remember the date and I will explain why, me and my big buddy Danie/Ysterklip headed for the mighty Swartberge. The plan was to take our bitches, XT660's, for a camp in the Hell. But....ye here it comes....120kays out on this trip the bike gave a shiver of excitement and frew me on my head at a humble speed of 110km/h. I then passed Danie on the gravelroad, rolling. The helmet was smashed. My jacket moertoe. The bike...oh man the bike was hurt real bad. Well I got the Faithfull Bitch back the 20th of Jan. It was a looooong waiting period man!
Two days after that me and Danie went to Baviaanskloof. We took the Langkloof-road. Its tar but its quite nice scenery to ride through. The other factor for taking the tar was the weather. Very gusty and some rain every now and then.
Okay, check out the pics to see how it went.....

I'll do it wrong in the meanwhile....

This was our first campingsite. Kudu Kaya of the very friendly Van der Watt's. The Eastern-cape got the best people. They are realy great.

oooh, and no. Danie aint shitting his pants nor is he doing the thing on the grass. He's just in a very akward position there...

Just outside Patensie the next morning. We first had to go back and fill up our bikes and get some rations for the day.

Just outside the wilderness area we met up with 14 guys from the Cape. We totally took over this little shop and had a great 'kuier' with these okes. Then we headed for our next campsite at Uitspan. Awesome place

And sadly we had to cruise back to Danie's farm in the Karoo, near Carnarvon, on the third day.
On the way to Willowmore you go through the Nuweveld pass wich is a nice final experience of the Baviaans area

On my own and on my way back to Bloem from Danie I rode via little places like Loxton, Pampoenpoort, Vosburg. From Prieska I rode in the rain to Modderrivier, near Kimberley. Despite the weather I took some gravel, wich at this time was freaken snot. Slipping and sliding around was actually some great fun. And I had a ball of mud on two wheels to show off when I got in Bloem...

Great stuff William, thanks for the pics.

We are doing Baviaans at the end of March so these pics shows us more or less what to expect.
