650 km, 7 bikes, 2 Dams

A few of us did a very nice round trip through the Free State the past weekend. The trip was completed in two parts:



First stop: Breakfast at the Reddersburg Aartappelfees



And then off to what this was all about....

The idea was sparked by two large dams overflowing. First, the Vanderkloof Dam -











Off to the second one via Petrusville and Colesberg - The Gariep Dam







We had supper and breakfast (the next morning) at the recently revamped Gariep Hotel (Now called De Stijl Hotel). The Hotel is really special:



And so are the views from the hotel in the direction of the dam:





Most parts of the Free State currently look like Scotland. (Road between Bethulie and Smitfield)





Jeez, this is was hard work!
