1150 Gearbox

Bought meself a 1150 abot three years ago. When shifting gears there is some clonks and bangs ... more so between 1st and second.  To eliminate 80% of the clonks I have learned to put a bit of preload on the gear shift lever just before the shift itself. Then it becames very smooth. Is it only me or are there other 1100-1200 riders with the same experience?
